Gaston Suisse (December 1, 1896 - March 7, 1988) was a French artist, designer, painter, lacquerer, and decorator. Gaston Suisse is considered a major artist of Art Deco. As a founding artist of what would be called the Art Deco Period, Gaston Suisse participated in major international exhibitions at the beginning of the 20th century: the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in 1925, the International Colonial Exhibition in 1931, and the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in 1937. He exhibited at the Salon of French Animal Artists and participated annually with the group of animal artists. His works can be found in museums in Boulogne-Billancourt, Dallas, Le Havre, Luxembourg, Paris, Roubaix, and Vernon. Birds, including pheasants, are a frequently repeated motif by Gaston Suisse.
This drawing is signed at the bottom right and dated 25 (20th century). This unusual drawing is in the best style.
There is some partial sun damage due to prolonged family exposure, but nothing disturbing as shown in the photos. The drawing is in good condition, with no breaks, damage, or repairs on the paper. The mat has been replaced with a new one. Dimensions: 46 cm x 36 cm.
