R. Varnier Bookend Animal Sculpture Ibex Bronze Signed Art Deco

  
Beautiful pair of solid bronze bookends with a gray and gold patina representing two stunning sculptures of two magnificent ibexes. They are standing on their hind legs, ready to joust.

They are signed at the paws R. VARNIER for René Varnier, a sculptor from the early 20th century. Estimated period: very early 20th century, 1930 Art Nouveau. Time has taken its toll on the patina. The Portoro marble bases are covered on the back with original felt.

They are in good condition. Each has a small chip, minimal in one corner, visible in the photos. Please carefully observe all the photos, which are an integral part of the description.

Total dimensions: 15.5 x 7.3 x 12.5 cm. Dimensions of the ibexes alone: 12 x 1 x 10 cm. A beautiful piece for utility and decoration. Attention collectors and mountain lovers.
