Superb pair of bookends in regule representing two animal sculptures, seals. They are standing, upright on their hind flippers. They are in a position to clap their front flippers. They are listed and signed here on the marble, at the back, at the level of the flippers CARVIN for the French sculptor Louis Albert CARVIN (1860 - 1951).
They are also both stamped with a relief foundry stamp on their flippers "French manufacturing, Paris, Made in France" with a cauldron on fire. Estimated period: early 20th century, Art Deco. The regules have a black patina on the silver gray. Time has taken its toll. The terraces are made of green marble from the Pyrenees and are in good overall condition, with some chips in the photos. Overall dimensions: 21.5x 11 x 13.5cm.
Seals alone: 18 x 11 x 9cm. Carefully observe all the photos that are an integral part of the description. For shipping worldwide, contact me to adjust shipping costs.
