Drawing Gouache Art Deco by Henri Hague Circus Scene Clowns Acrobats Flying Trapeze

  
Original drawing, old gouache and watercolor on paper fixed on golden cardboard. Genre scene: Circus ring, Clowns, Acrobats, Tightrope walker, Strongman, Ringmaster. 20th century, 1930s, dated 1936. The drawing is signed at the bottom left. In fair condition, signs of use, several creases, slightly damaged edges, folds and tears (see photos). Born in Berlin in 1899, Heinz / Heinrich Greiffenhagen, known as Henri Hague, is a painter. He traveled to France in the 1930s and created works depicting Parisian life and the carefree Roaring Twenties. Associating with artists from the School of Paris, he excelled in the artistic Montparnasse of the 1930s.

In 1937, he went to London and was noticed by Albert Berthel, who ran the Belgrave Gallery. A tribute exhibition titled "A Glimpse in Time, drawings and paintings by Henri Hague" was presented at the Center for Art and Photography at Celebration Company in Houston in March 2019.
