Double-handled pitcher in earthenware, signed Simone LARRIEU - Art Deco 1930 - 1940. A rare and original double-handled pitcher in glazed and hand-painted ceramic by Simone LARRIEU. Signed at the base of the belly.
Her works are particularly rare on the market and are highly sought after, due to low production and high quality craftsmanship. Its already high value continues to rise both in France and as far as Asia.Simone is the daughter of Octave LARRIEU, who was also a ceramicist, and with whom she worked in a small workshop they created in 1930 in Maubourguet in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Her father focused more on forms, while Simone concentrated on decorations, as she was also a watercolorist. Many pieces signed by Octave thus feature decorations created by Simone. In 1939, she opened her own workshop in Gironde without completely abandoning the family workshop. She dedicated herself more to painting after the end of World War II.
Simone's ceramic works are regarded as exceptional by specialists. The decoration features stylized flowers and clematis leaves in shades of red, pink, violet, yellow, and brown on a beige background.
