Captured by the Germans during the First World War, he was interned in Switzerland. Back in Paris, he exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries in 1922. Bouraine is a member of the society of French artists and participates in the autumn salon. He collaborated in 1928 with Gabriel Argy-Rousseau who commissioned several sculptures, and sometimes with his friend Pierre le Faguays.
